The Great Basin: Our Home

Besides the obvious semantic link between Cowboy Cauldrons and anything sporting the moniker “Great Basin,” it turns out that there are many more connections.

 

The Great Basin is where we are located, in Salt Lake City. The Great Salt Lake, the world’s largest inland sea, is the tiny remnant puddle of what once was Lake Bonneville, an enormous Pleistocene-era lake that formed behind an ice dam during the last ice age. That lake covered much of what is now Utah, as well as portions of California, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada, and encompassed much of what we now think of as “Cowboy Country."
